RUMI San Pablo Basket

By The Ayni Way

Rumi means “Rock” in Quechua.

These unique water reed baskets are designed and handwoven in the Andean town of Otavalo. The reed itself is harvested by an indigenous community located close to the nearby San Pablo lake. Our baskets are extremely lightweight and durable. Perfect for picnics and general shopping around.

Our leather is sourced from communities in the Imbabura province of Ecuador. The beautiful hand-carved centerpiece disc is made from Ecuadorian jade, found in the Napo river.

The basket has an oval/rectangle base. 33cm in length, 16cm wide and a height of 32cm.

The strap is made with wool/cotton mix fibers, and has an Andean earth colored pattern. 80cm in length and width of 6cm. (we offer a wide range of colors for our straps – get in touch for more options)
